

In Bombay, Chetna Anand approached Ali Akbar Khan to compose music for his couple of films produced under the family banner Navketan – Aandhiyan (1952) and Humsafar (1953), starring Dev Anand. At the initial stage of his career Jaidev acted in 4-5 swashbuckling/mythological films, but soon realized that ‘acting’ was not his forte. When the Khan’s patron, the Maharaja, died in a plane crash, Ali Akbar Khan asked his young disciple Jaidev to pack up and accompany him to Bombay. While continuing his musical training, he also took up a job as a music teacher in a school.Īli Akbar Khan, the Sarod Maestro was the musician at the court of 28-year-old Maharaja of the erstwhile princely state of Jodhpur.
